Just 548,000 people watched cable news network Jeff Zucker’s network during the week of Jan. 3. That’s a big drop from the nearly 2.7 million people who watched the network in 2021, Nielsen said.
A year ago, CNN’s coverage of the attack on the US Capitol on January 6 shook up the ratings. CNN had its most-watched day since Ted Turner started the news outlet in 1980.
Viewers turned to CNN’s right-wing rival Fox News on the one-year anniversary of the attacks because they didn’t want to watch CNN’s coverage of the event. Fox News had the most viewers.
When Chris Cuomo was fired from CNN’s primetime show because he was secretly helping his embattled older brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, fight sexual harassment claims that led to his resignation, it was the most public scandal to hit the network.
People didn’t like CNN very much in the first week of the new year.

CNN’s longtime boss, Jeff Zucker, was slammed last month for the network’s low ratings and how he handled the scandals involving network stars like Cuomo and Don Lemon, who work for the network.
Lemon, the host of the 10 pm show that Cuomo was on before he was fired, had his own ethics problems, which made him look bad. During the trial, the actor said that the host texted him to say that Chicago police didn’t think he was the victim of a racist or homophobic attack. The host was criticized for covering the case.
Another bartender in the Hamptons is suing Lemon because he rubbed his own genitals and put his fingers in his face in 2018. Lemon, who is gay, is also being sued by the bartender.
Lemon has said that the bartender’s claims aren’t true.
CNN’s ratings went down after the network had its second-most-watched year ever, according to the Daily Beast. After having a record year, network viewership went down in the second half of 2021. Nielsen says that CNN hasn’t been able to get viewers during primetime, which is between 8 and 11 p.m. and has seen a big drop in viewers over the last year. For the first week of 2021, there were 4.2 million people who watched primetime shows. Only 705,000 people watched last week.
During the first week of the year, CNN saw a big drop in the number of people who watched them.
Losing 90% of its primetime viewers in the key demographic and 91% of people who were 18 to 49 was also bad for this show.
CNN didn’t answer any questions.
