The FBI says that an 8-year-old from Washington state who had been missing since 2018 was found in Mexico and brought back to the US.
The FBI says that Aranza Maria Ochoa Lopez was taken by her biological mother on October 25, 2018, at a shopping mall in Vancouver, Washington.
In February, in the Mexican state of Michoacán, she was found and brought back to safety.
After the FBI found Lopez, they took her back to the US with them.
The FBI found out that when the 8-year-old girl was taken, she was taken to Mexico.
In September 2019, her mother was arrested in Puebla, Mexico, but the 8-year-old wasn’t found.
Richard A. Collodi, who is in charge of the FBI’s Seattle field office, said that they never stopped trying to find Lopez.
“The FBI and our partners did not give up on Aranza for more than four years,” Collodi said. “Our main concern now will be helping Aranza get back into life in the U.S.”
