Oscars Host Jimmy Kimmel: “Great Honor Or A Trap”

Oscars Host Jimmy Kimmel Great Honor Or A Trap

Jimmy Kimmel is prepared to host the Oscars once more to complete the trilogy that began with him presiding over the disastrous “envelope-gate” ceremony.

The event will be presided over by the presenter of the late-night talk show in March, the show’s producers announced on Monday.

Jimmy is a Perfect Host

Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner, the show’s executive producers, and showrunners, stated in a joint statement that they were “overjoyed” to see Jimmy accomplish his hat trick on this international stage. “We can be sure he’ll be hilarious and prepared for everything!”

Kimmel has already hosted the program twice: once in 2017, during which the incorrect best picture winner was announced, and once in 2018, just a few months after the #MeToo movement had taken root.

It’s either a fantastic honor or a trap, according to Jimmy Kimmel, to be asked to host the Oscars for the third time. In any case, I appreciate the school for reaching out to me so soon after everyone else had declined.

The Academy Awards were without a host after the 90th ceremony in 2018, which Kimmel hosted to mostly favorable reviews, until the 94th ceremony later this year, when Regina Hall, Wanda Sykes, and Amy Schumer shared the stage.

Bill Kramer, the CEO of the Academy, and Janet Yang, the president of the Academy, concurred that “Jimmy is the ideal host to assist us in acknowledging the amazing performers and films of our 95th Academy Awards.” He will provide our millions of viewers worldwide “an unforgettable experience” thanks to his passion for movies, expertise in live TV, and ability to connect with them.

The executive producer and co-head writer of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Kimmel’s wife, Molly McNearney, will also be a producer for the Oscars show. The annual Hollywood awards ceremony has received mixed reviews. The 94th Oscars beat the previous year’s record low, which occurred in multiple COVID-modified award shows, with 15.36 million viewers. For ABC to succeed as a broadcaster, ratings are still crucial.

“It is a dream to have Jimmy Kimmel back to host the Oscars. Craig Erwich, president of ABC Entertainment, Hulu & Disney Branded Television Streaming Originals, said of Jimmy: “As we witness every night on his program, Jimmy can handle anything with both heart and comedy, and we know that he will bring the laughs and joyous moments that define the Oscars. “We adore hosting Hollywood’s biggest night and can’t wait to honor the accomplishments of this year’s narrative and filmmaking.”

Jimmy Kimmel

James Christian Kimmel is a television host, author, comedian, and producer. Jimmy Kimmel Live!, an ABC late-night chat show, was launched by him as host and executive producer on January 26, 2003, at the Hollywood Masonic Temple in Hollywood, and on April 1, 2019, at a secondary venue, the Zappos Theater on the Las Vegas Strip. Kimmel hosted the Oscars in 2017 and 2018 and the Primetime Emmys in 2012, 2016, and 2020.

Kimmel co-hosted Comedy Central’s Win Ben Stein’s Money and The Man Show before hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! Sports Show with Norm Macdonald, Crank Yankers, and The Andy Milonakis Show are just a few of the programs Kimmel has created. He was listed among “The World’s 100 Most Influential People” by Time in 2018. Following Conan O’Brien’s retirement from anchoring a late-night program, Kimmel is the current American late-night talk show host with the longest tenure.

Kimmel said that shortly after Donald Trump was elected, he informed ABC execs that if he couldn’t make jokes about the president-elect, he would leave the show during an appearance on Stitcher’s “Naked Lunch” podcast in November 2022. Kimmel also said the CEOs were right; at that point, he lost around half of his audience.

Milestone Anniversary

The following performance marks the show’s milestone anniversary and is the first after “The Slap,” in which actor Will Smith smacked host Chris Rock on stage. Smith was consequently barred from the Oscars for ten years after winning best actor that evening. The organization’s leadership has stated that they would prefer to put the slap behind them and concentrate on a celebration that honors film.

The 95th Academy Awards will be live-streamed on ABC in more than 200 nations on March 12 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
