Recently in an interview with The Sunday Times, Seth Rogen addressed the sexual abuse allegation on his frequent co-actor James Franco. He announced that he has “no plans” of working with James Franco anymore after the allegations came around.
Addressing the allegations against Franco, Rogen said, “What I can say is that I despise abuse and harassment and I would never cover or conceal the actions of someone doing it, or knowingly put someone in a situation where they were around someone like that.”
While talking about his profession with Franco, who he starred with in the long running series “Freaks and Geeks”, Rogen also showed remorse of making fun of the case during an SNL opening monologue. At the SNL, Rogen joked about the 17 year old girl’s allegation against Franco, who claims that Franco DM’ed her on Instagram to meet up.
Rogen said, “However, I do look back at a joke I made on ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 2014 (about Franco dating underage girls) and I very much regret making that joke. It was a terrible joke, honestly.
Finally, Rogen announced, “I also look back to that interview in 2018 where I comment that I would keep working with James, and the truth is that I have not and I do not plan to (work with Franco) right now.”
Besides, Rogen made it clear that it is “not a coincidence” that the professional relationship between Seth and James have ended. Moreover, the allegations have also affected their friendship as well. Addressing their friendship, Rogen said, “I don’t know if I can define that right now during this interview. I can say it, um, you know, it has changed many things in our relationship and our dynamic.”
Seth also stated that the situation has been painful, but it is “not as painful and difficult as it is for a lot of other people involved. I have no pity for myself in this situation.”
The allegations of sexual abuse against James Franco have surfaced multiple times. In 2018, several students at his former acting school accused James of intimidating them into sexual situations. However, James Franco, at the time, denied all the accusations.
