The “After Hours” singer The Weeknd is all set to take upon the stage at the Billboard Music Awards. As per the news announced by Billboard, The Weeknd, who is this year’s top finalist, will perform at the BBMAs.
Billboard shared a rocking picture of the singer and captioned, “It’s official. The Weeknd, this year’s top finalist, will perform at the #BBMAS.”
After boycotting the Grammys and accusing the Academy for being corrupt for not being recognized after his album “After Hours” became one of the top albums, The Weeknd has been entertaining his audience and fans by performing at different shows. The Weeknd headlined the Super Bowl LV halftime show, and his energetic performance gained him immense popularity. He also became the first artist whose song stayed in Billboard’s Hot 100 Top 10 songs for a whole year.
Now, the singer is all set to perform at the Billboard Music Awards on May 23. Moreover, he has been named as the top finalist at the show with a nomination in 16 different categories including Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Latin Song.
According to Billboard, the awards show “celebrates music’s greatest achievements, with finalists determined by performance on the Billboard charts. Finalists and winners are based on key fan interactions with music — album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay and social engagement — tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including MRC Data.”
The singer’s fourth studio album “After Hours” became the fourth best-selling album of 2020. Over two million copies of the album were sold. This remarkable album gave The Weeknd three No. 1s with “Heartless,” “Blinding Lights” and “Save Your Tears” featuring Ariana Grande.
To watch The Weeknd performing live at the Billboard Music Awards, Tune in to the BBMAs on May 23 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC. Other than that, the singer has also performed at Brit Awards 2021 on Tuesday.
